Even if you missed the NHL All-Star game you could not have escaped the Cinderella story of John Scott that was covered across the national news.
This inspirational story is not just that one of the National Hockey League’s working-class players was selected as captain of the Pacific Division for the NHL All-Star team but how be handled the situation. John Scott made the best of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and showed the NHL, and world, what he is truly made of.
John Scott siezed a golden opportunity and was rewarded with recognition from both fans and his fellow players. Scott, who had only scored 5 goals in his entire NHL career, scored 2 goals in the All-Star game. He not only led his team to victory but was also selected as the MVP of the All-Star game (as a write-in candidate no less) by the fans.
As sales leaders we often have “John Scotts” on our teams who are just good enough to make the team but will never be stars. The moral of the story is that attitude can make the difference to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.
